Inside Look: Oak Street Inn & Lounge Coming to Cottleville in 2024

We’re thrilled to give you a sneak peek at one of Old Town Cottleville’s exciting new developments.

5521 Oak Street is a historic building built in 1862 as a general store. But soon, it will open as a whole new operation.

Now under new ownership as of January 2022, the building is undergoing a massive transformation to offer a brand-new experience in Cottleville: Oak Street Inn & Lounge.

Over the years, this historic site operated as a post office, hotel, and antique store.

Once completed, Oak Street Inn & Lounge will have four main components spread across 12,500 square feet of space:

  • The Inn
  • The Lounge restaurant & bar
  • A rooftop patio
  • An underground speakeasy bar

Currently, renovations are finishing up. We are anticipating the Inn to be open this summer, 2024.

When finished, it’ll be one of the best new venues in Old Town Cottleville.

The project is being developed by the owners of Public School House, right down the street. The family has reportedly invested over $1 million to make this dream a reality. We met with one of the owners, Chelsey Sweeten, to get a sneak peek before the grand opening.

Some features of the historic building will be kept, but the whole interior has been modernized and renovated.

They even lifted the building and poured a new foundation. This created the basement, which will become a fun retro-style speakeasy bar.

Seven Guest Rooms and One Suite

Oak Street Inn will offer a total of 8 guest rooms. 7 rooms fill the 2nd floor of the building, and the third floor is a 2-bedroom penthouse suite.

Each room has been uniquely designed so that no two are the same. You’ll find different color schemes, furniture, and finishes in each room.

Unparalleled Accommodations: The Inn and Lounge

The final plans for Oak Street Inn include the lounge on the main floor, seven guest rooms, and a large suite on the third floor.

With welcoming rooms, cozy furnishings, and all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay, you’ll feel right at home in this historic yet modern space.

When you walk in, Oak Street Lounge will feature an upscale restaurant that has a European atmosphere with an American flair.

It’ll operate as a high-end restaurant and cocktail bar. You can grab a craft cocktail, a bite to eat, and unwind from your trip.

The Pink Willow Café next door will serve delicious breakfast bowls, brunch, and cocktails, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal in the morning.

The Rooftop

On the third floor of Oak Street Inn, you’ll find a new rooftop patio.

Pink Willow will be catering on the rooftop starting at 4 pm after the cafe closes at 3. The rooftop will also be available to rent out for private events and get-togethers.

A Speakeasy in the Basement

In addition to the main level cocktail lounge and Pink Willow café, Oak Street Inn will feature a vintage-style speakeasy in the basement.

It’ll have a secret entrance and a retro charm for a fun nighttime hangout spot.

This unique space will offer guests an intimate and cozy environment to enjoy their favorite cocktails while listening to the DJ spin vinyl.

Cottleville’s Newest Café: Pink Willow

We are excited to share that Pink Willow Café opened for business this spring 2024!

Pink Willow is located at 5523 Oak Street, in the same building as Oak Street Inn, but they are technically two separate operations.

It will have a modern design where you can grab a fresh breakfast or a delicious bowl.

They’ll also offer weekend brunch with fun cocktails and mimosa flights.

A Modern Addition to Historic Cottleville

Everyone in the community is excited about the new development and glad the owners are preserving as much of the old building as possible.

We are thrilled to see the transformation of this historic property into a high-end boutique hotel.

The city of Cottleville is also thrilled to welcome a brand new local business to the Old Town historic district.

The grand opening is projected to take place in mid-2024.

With its rich history, modern amenities, and prime location, the Oak Street Inn is shaping up to offer an incredible stay for anyone traveling to town. Whether you’re staying in one of the hotel rooms or just stopping by the lounge for dinner, you’ll have an incredible experience.

We had such a fun time taking an early tour to see how progress is coming, and we are beyond excited for Oak Street Inn to open.

So stay tuned for more updates, and start planning your visit to Oak Street Inn!
